Will this Work?

Hi Guys,

I was just wandering....in a RAID5 array, ESA 10000,
HSZ70 controllers......
A current raidset, is using 6 - 18gb drives.
If i remove a single drive, run it in reduced mode,
and replace it with a 36GB drive, it will pick it up,
redistribute the data, but only utilize upto 18GB of
the 36GB drive capacity.
Question:
If I keep doing this for all 6 drives, will the raid
then recognize the whole 36GB capacity of all the
drives? Just dreamt about that as an easy way to
switch from 18gb drives to 36gb drives without
backup/restore. Couldn't reason out technically why
this won't work.
No open slots otherwise.
