I have good news and bad news. The bad news is I never got Samba 2.2.1a to
work properly. The good news is Samba v2.2.2 worked the right way on the
first try. Maybe I just had a buggy tarball or maybe there is something
basically wrong with my config running that particular version. I was also
very careful on the install of v2.2.2 and went through my Makefile, line by
line looking for something wrong. In the end though it just worked. Thanks
to everyone who offered up their experience and I hope I can return the
favor some day.

I want to thank a few people individually.
