MY QUESTION WAS:
Why when I try to change the setting in the field u_maxtries for a specific
user (using dxaccounts and edauth), the system is still using the settings
from the default file (/etc/auth/system/default) ?
ANSWER IS: (thank you ann.majeske_at_compaq)
It looks like what is happening is that the login command will cycle 5 times
requesting username/password
before it quits. It does this regardless of the value of u_maxtries in the
user's account or the default database.
But, the user's account is really locked after the second attempt to enter a
bad password, so if on the third time
around I enter the right password, I get the "Account is disabled -- see
Account Administrator" message.
