Thank you to everyone for their help (sorry, too many to mention each one
individually). The general consensus was that I would need to perform a
"rolling patch" - which looks to be a pretty complex operation. I was
pointed to documentation at
http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com/docs/patch/install/HTML/CHPRLLXX.HTM.

Also, a few said that there were issues associated with PK 4's caad.

The most mentioned hint was to read the documentation that comes with the
patch kit CAREFULLY.
