Thanks to Martin Barrett, Robert Weirick, Dan Harrington, and Darren Browett
for their replies. It seems that crashes have occured when trying to change
the setting of the NIC cards to FastFD(Dan Harrington, Darren Browett's
response) in 4.0x. Robert Weirick's response seems to agree with Dan and
Darren's responses that the issue was seen in 4.0F and was fixed in a
"subsequent patchkit (on 5.1)." This seems good enough for me to go ahead
and use this command.
Admins,
I have heard that using consvar -s variable value to change console
variables causes crashes in 5.1. I did this command on a 5.1A system and it
seemed to work (consvar -s bootdef_dev dsk0,dsk2). I was wondering if
anyone has seen where they have experienced system crashes in 5.1 doing the
same thing or similar tasks with consvar.
TIA,
Chris Bryant
