RE: SMTP Error Code 501
I want to thank all of those who responded for their input. We actually
discovered the problem by checking the logs on our Notes (mail) server.
Seems that Metrocall is set up for anti-spamming and is confirming incoming
mail by doing a reverse lookup on the incoming e-mail/hostname. In our
case the e-mail being sent has an address that is fully qualified -
including the machine name. Our internal machines are not known to the
outside world so the e-mail is being "bounced" by Metrocall. We are
working on a solution to this problem - but at least we now know what the
problem is.
Again, thanks for everyone's input.
