Using Outlook Express for e-mail

With Microsoft® Outlook® Express, you can exchange e-mail messages with other e-mail users over the Internet. You can mail your goulash recipe, for example, to one person, or broadcast it to several people simultaneously. You can even spiff up your messages for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays with "stationery."

Knowing e-mail addresses
Before you can send e-mail, you need to know your recipient's address.  You enter this information in the TO field of the message you're creating.  If you don't know an address, you can use Internet resources to try to find it. See Finding people or businesses on the Internet to learn how.

Store names in the Address Book
You can keep your frequent correspondents' addresses in the Address Book. Once a name is in your address book, you can type the person's familiar name instead of their full e-mail address. See Adding people to your Address book automatically to learn how.

File your messages
Once e-mail messages begin to flow into your inbox, you might get the urge to organize.  You can file your e-mail into folders to make them easier to find later. You might make folders for messages from your family, your friends, for work, and so on. See Creating new folders in Outlook Express to learn how.

Add stationery
You can decorate your e-mail messages with fancy borders and include graphics to celebrate certain occasions or simply brighten up your electronic correspondence. Outlook Express comes with ready-to-use stationery for a range of events from garage sales to anniversaries. See Sending e-mail messages on stationery to learn how.
