Tuning up

The Maintenance wizard, accessible directly from your Start button, performs a standard maintenance routine that runs on a schedule that you can set or adjust to suit your own timetable. The wizard automatically runs three tools to organize the files on your hard disk for efficiency, fix disk and file errors, and free up disk space. Each of these tools can also be run separately at any time.

To learn more about what each does and how often it needs to run, click below. When you run Disk Cleanup separately, you'll have more options than when the Maintenance wizard runs it automatically. To run the Maintenance Wizard click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Maintenance Wizard and follow the instructions on the screen.
