        Dear managers

Since two weeks I experienced a strange behaviour on an Alphastation
255/233: several crashes without any error messages and any
crash-data information, also with UERF I can't find any useful
information apart a little number of scsi error on disks.
the only message displayed at console is
        the following:

        halted CPU 0

        halt code = 1

        operator initiated halt

        PC = xxxxxxxxxxxx

Compaq changed the motherboard for a number of
Machine check hardware error and then the system disk for
        a strange SCSI behaviour.

But anyway chrashes continue and the only suggestion from
Comapq is that probably the SCSI cable total lenght, inside +
external 1 from ws to expansion bo x(1 meter long) and the other from
expansion box to A TLZ06 DAT unit (1 meter), could be too long.

But today the ws crashed ebev if I have deatched the DAT unit.

I have other three ws with nearly the same arrangement
        without such a behaviour.

Could you suggest something or some tests to perform ?

        I will summarize
