Does anyone run SAS 6.12 under Tru64 Unix? We've been running it for a
while on an AlphaServer 8200 with Tru64 Unix 4.0d Patch Kit #10. Several
of our users have been getting a lot of work done with SAS in its Xwindows
environment. After January 3 when the /home volume on the system crashed,
several users are saying that SAS no longer works in Xwindows properly.
The usual SAS windows appear, but one cannot type anything in the program
window. The users all gain access to Xwindows through a PC emulation
package, not a real Xwindows terminal.
This problem has me stumped. Its the old story where our SAS installation
has not changed. This software is on a volume that did not malfunction in
any way. There are no log file messages involving any problems on the
system. I can run SAS in the Xwindows environment just fine by using it
via my desktop Alpha which also runs Tru64 Unix, but those that use a
Windows based Xwindows emulator cannot. I have gone though all the SAS
docs in an attempt to make sure its install properly; it is. I am also
able to use it fine via the account of one of the people who says its not
working on her PC.
SAS says there's no problem with the software and that it must be
installed incorrectly, but that's not likely since its the same as it was
when it was working. Does anyone have any suggestions on where else I
might look for a fix to this problem? My only suggestion is that the
users' Xwindows emulation software isn't functioning properly, but the
users resist that idea so I figured that maybe someone on this list might
have any other ideas.
