Dear Managers

I am trying to install both 4.0e and 4.0f onto a new ES40 that we have. It
will be dual boot and used for cluster testing.

The problem is that I cannot even boot off the install CDs that I have in
order to set it up.

I boot from the CD (either 4.0e of 4.0f) and they both fail with the
following panic.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------

boot_device: unknown protocol name IDE
setconf: Bootdevice parser failed to translate bootdevice IDE 0 15 0 0 0 0 0
panic (cpu 0) : setconf : bootdevice_parser failed.

Dump: No primary swap, no explicit dumpdev
Nowhere to put header, giving up.

halted CPU0
halt code =5
HALT instruction executed
PC=fffffc0000434bf0

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone seen this error with reference to bootdevice_parser before? If so
how did you get around it?

Thank you in advance,

Charlotte Barsby
