Oracle tablespace problem

Creating a tablespace of 8200 MB, a core dump is generated.

Scenario:

4.0d patchlevel 11
Oracle 8.05
device: a raidset connected to a hsz40 controller (8*2GB disks in raid5)
mounted on an ADVFs file system.

Is there anyone who can help me?
