I'm at a client site this week to do some training, and am encountering a
strange SCSI error. Here's the system config:
2 ES40s, 4 processors/system, 2GB RAM, 1-9GB drive in each
4-9GB drives in a differential SCSI BA shelf
MC2 Memory Channel cards
OS is 4.0F, with patch kit 2 (OS and TCR patches were installed).
When the systems come up under 4.0F, everything is fine, and both nodes can
see the shared bus with no problems. When TCR 1.6 is installed on one node
and not the other, still no problems. As soon as we finish the setup of 1.6
on the second machine and boot on the TCR-layered kernel, the second machine
times out when trying to bring up the shared SCSI bus. If we halt the first
machine, the second system recovers from the timeout and continues to boot.
Remove TCR from one of the systems and both boot fine.
Any suggestions? This is a new one on me.
Cheers,
Ed.
