Thanks to all people who sent suggestions.
The problem haven't been solved still. The original post is attached at
bottom.
I received lots of suggestions. However, maybe the problem was not
stated clearly in my original post. Most people suggest me to see
whether the device file exists, or whether kernel support CDFS. In my
system, the device file does points to the cdrom, and the kernel does
support CDFS. My problem is that I can mount cdrom successfully only
once after each reboot.
Dr. Tom Blinn give some good suggestions and I will try these at late
time.
"If it were my system, the first thing I'd do is replace the CDROM drive
to rule out a bad drive. If the symptoms don't go away with a different
CDROM drive, then I'd try different media (but I assume you've already
done that). There are many ways media can be damaged and made
unreadable. If neither the drive nor the media swaps make the problem
go away, I'd try booting the original V4.0D kit CDROM and see if I can
read that media reliably. If I had a spare hard drive (I do have lots
of spares), I'd install the vanilla V4.0D product (no patches) onto my
spare disk, then exercise the CDROM drive to see if the symptoms go away
(either confirming or ruling out a bad patch)."
Original post:
Hi, Managers
I encountered a weird problem on my PW433au box. I can only mount cdrom
once, ie. after mount and umount, the cdrom can not be mount again.
However, after reboot, I can mount successfully only one time. Related
command and message given below. Can anyone give some hints?
# mount -r /dev/rz0c /cdrom
Error: /dev/rz0c on /cdrom: No such device or address
# file /dev/rrz0c
/dev/rrz0c: character special (8/2) EIDE #0 CD-ROM X disk #0 (SCSI
ID #0) (SCSI LUN #0) errors = 0/45 offline
