Check set-uid bit on the rlogin executable. Most likely, it is off for some
reason.

Thankyou everbody, I've just learned something new about my systems.

============================================================
... original Question:

Hi,

System: AlphaServer DS20 / 500, one cpu
OS: Tru64 Unix 4.0E, no patch-kits

After power-failure on this machine I have problems with "rlogin"
If I try to "rlogin" from this machine to other machines (Alphas) I get an
error-message:

> rlogin other_machine

> rcmd: socket: Permission denied

1) other_machine is in the /etc/hosts table

2) ping other_machine works fine

3) telnet other_machine also works fine

any help appreciated, K.-D.
