I found someone with a similar problem which gives an error
message in the kern.log file. There seemed to be a problem with
too many groups a user was member of.
Jun 21 14:20:38 itsma8 vmunix: NFS3 RFS3_WRITE failed for server itsma7: RPC: Server can't decode arguments
Jun 21 14:20:38 itsma8 vmunix: NFS3 write error 5 on host itsma7

Running V5.0A with the cxx 6.2 compiler.
14:10 >make
cxx -g -Dwx_motif -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I../../xitsm -I../../xitsm/xitsm -I.. -I/usr/local/include/base -I/usr/local/include/x -c ../../xitsm/xitsm/iso.cpp
cxx: Severe: Error seeking in file: I/O error
... file is 'iso.o'
make: *** [iso.o] Error 1
14:10 >make

cxx: Severe: Error closing file: I/O error
