My original question was:
Does anyone have any experience running Tru64 4.0g or 5.0a on a small
Alphastation 300? I am trying to get it installed on an old machine of mine
and I am not getting anywhere. I am not getting any video and the LED's on
the back are in this order from left to right: on, on, off, on, on, off,
off, on. Does anyone know where to find these codes?
The answers were helpful, as always:
1. Did you upgrade to the V5.7 level of firmware? That's required for
V5.0a at
least.
2. I'm guessing that you either have a hardware or a configuration
issue. Does
the 300 have a serial console port ? Also, you may be able to coax your
local Compaq/Dec field engineer into translating the LED's via his Pocket
Service Guide.
3. I don't know the models, but I am guess the video card isn't
supported any
more. I had a AlphaStation 200, that wouldn't upgrade to 4.0f, they dropped
a bunch of support for some older video cards. I do have 4.0f running on a
AlphaStation 300, but I may have been lucky in getting one that had a newer
model video card.
4. I am running Tru64 V5.0 (not "a") on an AlphaStation 300 without any
problems. Owner's guide is available in PDF at:
