DISKLABEL doesn't work on DU4.0f

I'm trying to create a clone of my current root disk. New disk is rz8.

I diskabel -z rz8 , disklabel -e to change size of partitions, and all seems
ok. rz8 once had a bad OS install from factory. Each time I try mounting rz8a
, I get the old partition as if the disk never initialized.

GS140 , DU 4.0f kit 3 , disk in question is a local drives rz1 9G.

Done following:

disklabel -z rz8
disklabel -rw -t advfs rz8 RZ1 {also tried this by leaving off RZ1, doesn't
make a difference
disklabel -e rz8 {Change size of partitions

Create dir root_clone
cd /etc/fdmns/root_clone
ln -s /dev/rz8a rz8a

mount -t advfs root_clone#root /root_clone

The partition for rz8a is same size it was before I disklabel -e rz8a.

Also , is the /etc/disktab file used anymore? This file belongs in the Museum
of Ancient History. Why is it not kept up to date? There are ra81 drives in
here and other unsupported stuff in here.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks,
