Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll have to upgrade to v5.0 before
I boot from the SAN.

What OS version are you running? As far as i know the only supported OS is
5.0a (rumors of 4.0g being supported have been spread... but i havent read
anything yet)

Version 5.0A is required for boot support, V4.0F/G will not boot over fibre
channel.
If you require documentation there are two pieces available on the Tru64
Unix website
http://www.unix.digital.com follow the documentation link and then the
technical updates link. There is one for FC on V4.0F and one for FC on
V5.0A. The section on WWIDMGR seems particularly important.

I do not have experience with HSG raid controllers but with HSZ50, HSZ70, and
HSZ80. In general they are very similar, but you might want to verify. On the
HSZ controllers the lun of the disk you want to boot from must be 0. In other
words, you can only boot from lun 0 disks. This means when you create a
logical disk for booting it needs to be lun 0.

To my knowledge you can not boot off an HS? controller until v5.0 of the OS.
