Hello,
>From my readings in chapter 9 of the "Security" manual
<
http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com/faqs/publications/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V4
0F_HTML/AQ0R2ETE/TITLE.HTM> and chapter 7 of "Network Administration"
<
http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com/faqs/publications/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V4
0F_HTML/APS2SDTE/TITLE.HTM> I'm left with the impression that I am able to
run my NIS domain and have clients of both BSD & C2 Security.
I've managed to build a 2 member test NIS domain in which both are running
C2 and everything works just like the manual said it would. However, when I
add a third member to this NIS domain as a client (and this client is
running BSD instead of C2), I am unable to login using the NIS password that
works for the C2 clients. When I rebuild my NIS maps, I see the following:
nutsy:root# touch src/*passwd
nutsy:root# make
updated passwd
pushed passwd
makedbm: adding prpasswd_nonsecure
updated prpasswd
pushed prpasswd
nutsy:root#
The documentation seemed to imply that the line "makedbm: adding
prpasswd_nonsecure" would enable non-C2 clients to use the same login
password as is used on C2 clients.
Is it possible to have the passwords synched between C2 & non-C2? Or will I
have to upgrade any machine I want to add to my NIS domain to C2 in order to
have a single login password?
Thanks,
John Losey
