Dear Tru64ers
AS4100, 4.0D, PK6 with Oracle DB. 2xHSZ50's running in Dual-Redundant mode - inherited system and no accompanying documentation!
I've recently ran sys_check on one of my Alphas and it has come up with the following -
Tuning Suggestion: HSZ bus 2 target 0 lun 0 ( this ) has a miss set CACHE_FLUSH_TIMER ( 10 ), which may be set to 45 or more seconds.
Operational: HSZ bus 2 target 0 lun 0 ( this ) has TIME not set; set the time in order to facilitate HSZ management.
Operational: HSZ bus 2 target 0 lun 0 ( this ) has an incorrect CACHE_POLICY setting ( A ); set CACHE_POLICY to B.
Tuning Suggestion: HSZ bus 2 target 0 lun 0 has incorrect MAXIMUM_CACHED_TRANSFER_SIZE setting ( 32 ); set MAXIMUM_CACHED_TRANSFER_SIZE to 256 or higher.
Can anyone please answer me the following?
1) CACHE FLUSH TIMER - presumably this is just a timed "cleaner" for the CACHE - is it wise to change from 10 to 45 secs?
2) TIME / HSZ management - would this be for reporting error events?
3) CACHE POLICY - what is the difference between A and B
4) MAXIMUM CHACHED TRANSFER SIZE - What is it and will the performance be increased by making this change?
5) I've read in the SWCC Help that some of these settings will require that the HSZ's would need to be re-started - as the system disk is also connected, can I restart the HSZ without screwing anything up on the system (presumably the other will take over any activities)? Also, would it be advisable to make these changes using SWCC or the old terminal way?
Any responses would be gratefully received
Cheers
