Screenshot and version number for the latest client version on each supported operating system (that I have a license to run). Click on a screenshot to embiggen it and see more.
There are three clients to choose from depending on CPU and available RAM. On DOS the login screen is provided by the server which is why all the screenshots look the same.
* The NETX client supports DOS 3.0 and up, the VLM client requires DOS 3.2 or newer. NetWare 4.11 login command does not support DOS 3.x - use login from NetWare 3.12 instead.

† 386 processor or better required. For Windows 3.1x in Standard Mode running on a 286 processor use VLM client.
‡ No client officially supports Windows ME but version 3.4C appears to work to some extent.
No client exists for NT 3.1 except a beta from either Novell or Microsoft. The 1993-11-03 pre-release is not the latest beta from Novell, just the latest I've managed to find a copy of. This client also supports MIPS and Alpha. No Novell client for newer versions of NT supports MIPS, PPC or Alpha though the Microsoft client does.

I don't have a license for OS/2 1.0-1.2 or any of the Micosoft versions so can't test these. The client under IBM OS/2 v1.2 and Microsoft versions of 1.2 and 1.3 should be pretty much identical to IBM OS/2 1.3 though.
Additionally, the client for OS/2 1.0 is currently missing. I don't have a copy and its not been archived on the internet anywhere.

Prior to System 7.1 you have to use AFP/AppleShare (and may need to have an LocalTalk card in the server or a LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridge if the Mac doesn't have ethernet). Above 8.x I'm not what client is suitable. 5.11 may work but I don't have a MacOS 9.x license to try. If 5.11 doesn't work on 9.x then one of 5.12-5.14 will be required but these are commercial software for which I have no license.
* I do have copies of System 7.1 but they're for the LC III and Quadra 605 and so don't support whatever network interface Basilisk II is emulating.
I'm not a netware expert, don't have any of those fancy novell certifications and have never administred a netware network; I've just played with it at home occasionally since 2004 or so. Email me if you've got any suggestions or corrections for this page or any extra information you think is worth including here. My address is david at this websites domain name (without the www bit of course).
