Digital UNIX Updates
Updates for Digital OSF/1, Digital UNIX, Compaq Tru64 UNIX and HP Tru64 UNIX.
At the moment this page mostly focuses on aggregate patch kits. You may be able to find individual/single patch kits in some of the following locations:
Around October 2010 patch access via public FTP was discontinued by HP with access now requiring an
ITRC account with an active support agreement. Aggregate Patch Kits were stored in a different heirarchy from regular patches and these don't appear to have been
archived anywhere obvious.
Latest Patch Kits
The following table lists the final aggregate patch kit for each release where they exist. These are cumulative so at a minimum you'll probably want to install this. In some cases there
may also be additional patches released after the final aggregate patch kit which you may or may not want to install.

Patch Kit Naming
The general naming scheme for older patch kits is: ${OS_PRODUCT}${VERSION}${KIT_TYPE}${KIT_NUMBER}-${DATE} (for example, T64V51AS0004-20011114)
while newer patch kits use the form ${OS_PRODUCT}${VERSION}${BASE_LEVEL}${KIT_TYPE}${KIT_NUMBER}-${DATE} (for example, T64V51AB01AS0001-20020116)
where:
- OS_PRODUCT is one of:
- T64 - Tru64 UNIX
- DU - Tru64 UNIX v4.0x or Digital UNIX
- TCR - TruCluster
- VERSION is the operating system version, eg V51 = v5.1, V51A = v5.1A
- BASE_LEVEL is the Engineering Base Level, eg B01 = Base Level 1
- KIT_TYPE is one of:
- AS - Aggregate Selective installation patch kit (multiple patches)
- SS - A patch kit containing a single patch
- M - Manual installation
- KIT_NUMBER - the kit number, eg 0004 = Patch Kit 4
- DATE - Date of release, eg 200111114 = 14 November 2001
Compaq/HP Tru64 5.1B
There were six re-releases of Tru64 5.1B which bundled whatever patch kit was current at the time. Release 5.1B-4 changed the branding from Compaq to HP:

DEC OSF/1 v3.2, v3.2A, v3.2B (Digital UNIX v3.2, v3.2A, v3.2B)
A patch exists for v3.2B (Readme,
tar (53M)). A readme file inside the
tar archive contains further details. This appears to be just a bunch of patches merged into one with no automated installation (dupatch didn't exist yet?)
- you've got to copy the files around yourself. The readme indicates this bundle also applies to V3.2 systems that have been
"patched with the setld Patch 003 kit" but I can find no other references to a v3.2 patch kit 3.
While the filename differs, this is perhaps the same patch mentioned in this Usenet post
(patches.osf-v3.2-05oct96.tar.Z). The date is pretty close and the general description of the nature of the patch seems to match the above. The 3.2B
patch was also put online only a few days after that usenet post - perhaps in response to someone inquiring about it? Or maybe its a different patch and
there were similar patch bundles for a bunch of pre-3.2C versions with the 3.2B patch being the only one to see a public release.
If you know more about the patching situation for these versions or have copies of patch kits for OSF/1 v3.2B or older, it would be great to hear from you!

DEC OSF/1 v1.0-v3.1C
I can find no evidence of any patch kits for releases prior to DEC OSF/1 v3.2. Perhaps the existed but were never made available via public FTP or simply not
archived. This usenet thread indicates most OSF/1 patches were
only available to people with support contracts in 1995 - maybe that applies to patch kits prior to v3.2C too.
